President's Day

Since today is President's Day, I thought you might like seeing the interiors that Ken Blasingame designed in the White House with First Lady Laura Bush.  Pictures are from Architectural Digest.

The Queens' bedroom, part of the family quarters.  In the past, this room was an office for presidents' staff.  I would love to stay in this room.  I love the pink!

The Palm Room takes you to the West Wing and the Rose Garden.

The Green Room

The Oval Office during George W. Bush's presidency.  The president left the design decisions to the first lady and Ft Worth designer Ken Blasingame.

The Oval Office received new draperies, upholstery, personal artwork, and accessories.

Another shot of the Oval Office and the new upholstery on the chairs.

The Library, which houses the White House's permanent collection of books.  This room has also been used as a laundry room, a storage room, and a waiting room.

The Lincoln Bedroom was restored with period details.

The Vermeil Room is a formal sitting room.  The portraits are of Lady Bird Johnson above the mantle, and Jacqueline Kennedy above the sofa.

The Roosevelt Room is used for staff meetings and press conferences and is across from the Oval Office.

With a new administration comes new interiors.

Here is a picture of the Oval Office today, decorated by LA designer Michael S. Smith.

The New Oval Office

Another shot of the Oval Office.  Michael S. Smith's version is a little less formal, more trendy.

So which version of the Oval Office do you like best?  Do you have a favorite?

House Tour: Jane McGarry

I thought you guys might want to see where local news anchor Jane McGarry lives.  It's funny because hubby and I have been driving by the outside of her house for 4 or 5 years not knowing that it was her house!  We love the outside and it is always on our driving around looking at houses route.  Recently the newspaper did a story on Jane's house and showed a picture of her standing outside on her porch, and we both figured out the house we love is Jane McGarry's!  The colorful home was designed by Ken Blasingame, a favorite designer of former first lady Laura Bush.  He actually redesigned several rooms in The White House for Laura and worked with her on her ranch in Crawford.  We were pretty excited to get to see the inside.  I think you will enjoy it too!   Pictures are from D Magazine.

More Bedroom Inspiration From Phoebe Howard

Here is some more bedroom inspiration from designer Phoebe Howard.  What I noticed about all of her bedrooms is that they are very serene and relaxing.  She uses a lot of white and pale blues.

I like the way that dresser and mirror look with the pictures around it.

I would love to do something like this around my upholstered headboard.

Image

I love the white bedding and the lamps!

Image

I love the headboard, it is very dramatic!

Image

I like the mirror above the bed.

Image

Beautiful!!

Image

Although this room is lavender and green, it is still very restful.  I love it!  Especially the pillows and the lamp.

Image

Very pretty!  I wish I had enough room for a sitting area in my room!

Image

I like the sunburst mirror above the bed.  I found one at the Salvation Army a couple of weeks ago for $10 and I have regretted not buying it ever since!  Especially now after seeing how Phoebe uses them a lot over the bed.  That's exactly what I need!

Image

I love all of the lamps that Phoebe uses.  I am also loving the pale blues and whites!

Image

I absolutely love this bedroom!  Love the colors and the lamps and the headboard.  This home was actually featured in the July 2008 issue of Southern Accents, and I loved it then too!

Image

I know this isn't a bedroom, but I had to include the bathroom.  Don't you love it?

Image

Another shot of the bathroom.  Cute little chairs holding the towels!

Image

Love the bed and the tables with the Asian legs!

Image

This bedroom is so restful!

Image

Pretty!!

Image

No, I am not planning on using twin beds in the master bedroom, I just love the curtains around the bed!

Image

I love the scalloped bedding and the blue lamps.

Cool bed!

So do you have a favorite bedroom from Phoebe Howard?  I can't decide, I think they are all pretty great!
