How To Get The Look: Palm Beach Chic

If you like a little traditional mixed with a little vintage 70s mixed with a little preppy mixed with a little glamour mixed with a lot of bright happy colors, then your style is not crazy!  It's Palm Beach Chic!  Here are the elements you need to get the look.

COLOR! Painted not only on walls but on furniture too.

Shades of pink, green, blue, turquoise, coral, yellow

MONOGRAMS ARE A MUST!

Pillow cases, pillows, slip covers, cocktail napkins.  Pick up pillowcases from Target and Walmart for cheap and have them monogrammed.  Big impact for little money.

WALLS

Colorful wall paper, grass cloth, brightly painted walls, white walls.  If wallpaper is not in the budget, then paint! Designer Meg Braff, the queen of Palm Beach style, says that she likes to paint her walls white to let the artwork and bright colors pop.  I agree!

LAMPS

Gourd lamps, vintage 60s and 70s lamps, simple unadorned shades.  Check out thrift stores and estate sales for 60s and 70s lamps.  Don't let the shades scare you.  You can always buy new shades at Target.  Homegoods, Target, and even Lowe's have a good selection of lamps.

ARTWORK

Brightly colored abstracts, framed vintage photographs, bird prints, quirky paintings.  Thrift stores are the best place to find fun artwork.  If you can't find something you like, buy a canvas and paint something yourself!

ACCESSORIES, THE FINISHING TOUCH

Shells and coral, blue and white ginger jars, chinoiserie, brightly colored needlepoint pillows, quirky and unique knick knacks.  I like to shop at antique malls, thrift stores, and Homegoods for accessories.
